Volunteering at MCACC

Helping at the shelter is more than just service — it’s an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of pets and people in our community. Our animals thrive on the extra love, playtime, and support volunteers provide.

From walking dogs and socializing cats to helping at events or pitching in with daily care, there are many ways to get involved. Whether you can commit weekly time or bring a special skill (photography, social media, handyman work, etc.), we’d love to have you on our team.

Volunteer Opportunities include:

  • Animal Enrichment: Walks, playtime, toys, and cuddles to keep pets happy and active.
  • Daily Care Support: Helping with feeding, cleaning kennels, doing laundry, and keeping the shelter running smoothly.
  • Adoption Support: Greeting visitors, assisting families with questions, and helping pets find their match.
  • Events & Outreach: Supporting adoption events, community fairs, and educational programs.
  • Special Skills: Using talents like photography, social media, or repair work to help pets shine and the shelter stay in top shape.

Getting Started
Volunteers must be 16 years or older (ages 16–17 need signed parent/guardian consent). To begin:

  • Complete the Volunteer Application & Waiver HERE.
  • Attend a Volunteer Orientation (dates are shared on our Facebook page).
  • Receive hands-on training with our team before working directly with animals.

Even if you volunteered with us at our old location, you’ll need to attend an orientation at the new facility so we can get everyone on the same page.
