About Us
Montgomery County Animal Care and Control (MCACC) is committed to protecting both pets and people in our community. Our mission is to promote animal health and welfare, encourage responsible pet ownership, support rabies prevention, and ensure public safety by enforcing state and local ordinances.
As an open-intake municipal shelter, we provide care for every animal that comes through our doors, while working hard to reunite lost pets with their families and place adoptable pets in loving homes. Our officers are authorized under Tennessee law to enforce local and state animal ordinances, always striving to provide professional, timely, and compassionate service to the citizens of Montgomery County.
MCACC operates two service locations: our main campus at 437 Jordan Road in North Clarksville, TN, and our Ft. Campbell facility, allowing us to better serve both Montgomery County residents and the military community. Together, we proudly serve all of Montgomery County and its townships.
Our Mission
At MCACC, our work is guided by three core principles:
Education – Teaching our community about humane treatment of animals, responsible pet ownership, and population control.
Enforcement – Upholding local and state ordinances to ensure the safety of both pets and people.
Prevention – Stopping the spread of rabies and other risks through awareness, control, and testing.
We continue to build strong partnerships and community relationships to create a safer, kinder county for all.
The Five Freedoms
MCACC is dedicated to ensuring all animals in Montgomery County are provided the basic five freedoms every animal deserves:
- FREEDOM FROM HUNGER AND THIRST – by having ready access to fresh water and a diet to maintain health and vigor.
- FREEDOM FROM DISCOMFORT – by providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area.
- FREEDOM FROM PAIN, INJURY, OR DISEASE – by prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment.
- FREEDOM TO EXPRESS NORMAL BEHAVIOR – by providing sufficient space, proper facilities, and the company of the animal’s kind.
- FREEDOM FROM FEAR AND DISTRESS – by ensuring conditions and treatment that avoid mental suffering.
