Research & Records Request
The Montgomery County Archives will complete basic research & record searches for free. Due to the volume of requests that we receive, we are unable to assist with in-depth research.
Requests
- Please keep your request focused on a specific person, event/topic, or location that is directly related to Montgomery County.
- Tell us exactly what you are looking for, including any known details that will assist us in locating the requested materials.
- When possible, please provide the exact reference to your requested record. An example of this would be requesting a copy of marriage book 32, page 84.
- Visit our archival collections page for more information on available record groups.
To enter a request, click the Research & Records Request Form button below and complete the request form. When completing the form select the request type from the drop-down menu that most accurately reflects your research request and follow the prompts.
The first time you enter a request you will be asked to register your email address. If you have already registered previously, you may enter your request through our request portal. You can also check on the status of active research requests in the portal. To access the Archives Request Portal, please select the button below.
Fees
- Copy fees are charged at a rate of 15-cents per page. Your first 5 copies are always free.
- Postage fees vary and will be determined once your research request is complete. You will be advised of the exact cost of your copy and postage fees before being asked to send payment.
Payments
- Our office accepts payment via cash, check, or money order.
