Archival Collections
The Montgomery County Archives houses permanent and non-current records of Montgomery County Government, as well as donated materials pertaining to Montgomery County. Members of the public are welcome to view the County’s public records, processed special collections, digitized materials, and utilize reference materials at our facility.
Public Record Holdings
The Archives hold many historic record groups from the county, in various formats. A list of our holdings includes, but is not limited to:
- Marriage Records, 1838 - 2006
- Probate Records, 1796 - 1990
- Deed Books, 1788 - 1997
- County Court Minutes, 1805 - 1979
- Chancery Court Minutes, 1840 - 2002
- Court Case Papers, 1808 - 1989
- Loose Maps

Special Collections
The Archives collects and makes available a wide variety of materials related to Montgomery County history, outside the scope of government. Our Special Collections consist of family papers, historic photographs, civic organization records, and other donated materials. To learn more about the types of materials we collect, review our
Collection Development Policy. Collections which have been processed are open for research and may be viewed at our facility.

Digital Collections
The Archives provides online access to digital versions of materials held in our archival collections. Some of the materials found in our digital collections include correspondence, photographs, pamphlets, scrapbooks, minute books, and yearbooks.

Reference Library
In addition to our collections of archival records, the Archives maintains a collection of reference books and periodicals for use in our reading room. These publications include works pertaining to Montgomery County history and genealogy, as well as materials related to our archival collections.
