County Office Closed in Observance of Labor Day

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TN – Montgomery County Government Offices will be closed Monday, September 5 in observance of the Labor Day federal holiday. All County offices will reopen on Tuesday, September 6 during normal operating hours.

Although County offices are closed on Labor Day, some services are available through the Montgomery County, Tennessee website through the Gov tab.

Nashville Symphony Concert is Scheduled at Downtown Commons

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – The prestigious Nashville Symphony will perform a free concert for the community on the lawn of the Montgomery County Downtown Commons on September 6. 

Beginning at 6 p.m., the community can participate in an Instrument Petting Zoo hosted by the Nashville Symphony. An Instrument Petting Zoo is a time when guests can go from instrument to instrument, touching and playing with them, just like we would with animals in a petting zoo! Following, at 7 p.m., the community will have the opportunity to listen to some of the country’s most talented musicians, the Nashville Symphony! The Nashville Symphony will have over 60 musicians in attendance to make this the best yet! Chairs will be available for the first 500 guests in attendance.

The Nashville Symphony has been integral to Middle Tennessee and Music City since 1946. Performing over 150 concerts annually, they are an established leader in Nashville’s growing arts and cultural community. 


This free community concert is sponsored by Benefits, Inc. and Jack B. Turner and Associates.


Local food trucks: Burgasm, Big Kahunas, and Heather’s Homemade Icecream, are scheduled to be on Main Street before and during the show. Tater Headz will also be open at the walk-up eatery on Legion and Third streets. Beer and other beverages will be for sale by Ajax Distributing Company, with all proceeds benefiting United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region.

Chairs and blankets are welcome; however, pets, coolers, smoking/vaping or outside alcohol will not be allowed on site.

Early Closure for County Clerk and Register of Deeds Offices

Montgomery County, TN — The Montgomery County Clerk’s Office and the Register of Deeds Office, will close at noon on Wednesday, August 31 to allow for the accurate and complete accounting of inventory for the transition of authority between elected officials.

County Clerk Kellie Jackson and Register of Deeds Connie Gunnett decided to retire from their elected positions this year. Teresa Cottrell will serve as the new County Clerk and Julie Chadwick Runyon will serve as the Register of Deeds. The newly elected officials will take office on September 1. 

The County Clerk and Register of Deeds offices are located in Veterans Plaza at 350 Pageant Lane.

APSU For the Peayple Gathering & The Eagles Project Downtown @ Sundown August 19

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – This Friday, August 19, beginning at 6:15 p.m., join us at a For the Peayple Gathering and hear remarks from APSU President Licari, APSU athletics, and Mayor Durrett! The APSU cheer and dance team and the Governors Own Marching Band will also be present to motivate the crowd and lead the APSU Fight Song! Following APSU’s For the Peayple Gathering, Downtown @ Sundown will feature The Eagles Project! Starting at 7 p.m., The Eagles Project will take you back to the ’70s with top songs like Hotel California, Take It Easy, and Desperado. From incredible musicianship to flawless vocals, The Eagles Project has no competition!

Local food trucks will also be set up before and during the shows. Burgasm, Firelime Offshore Grill, Heather’s Homemade Icecream, Johnny & June’s Italian Ice, and TN Kettle Corn are all expected to be on site. Tater Headz will also be open at the walk-up eatery on Legion Street and Third Street. Beer and other beverages will be for sale, with all proceeds benefiting our featured non-profit, United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region.

Main Street will be blocked off between Second Street and Third Street at 4:30 p.m. to make room for the food trucks. Downtown @ Sundown Concerts are free and open to the public and take place the first and third Fridays of each month through October. Chairs and blankets are welcome; however, pets, coolers, smoking/vaping, or outside alcohol will not be allowed on site.

Last Call to the Community for 2023 Legislative Items

Montgomery County, TN — The Montgomery County Legislative Liaison Committee is in the process of developing the 2023 Legislative Agenda for lawmakers in Nashville. This agenda includes suggestions specific to issues in Montgomery County and the state that citizens would like to have addressed. 

Montgomery County is asking residents to submit legislative items for consideration to gather as much input as possible. This is the final request for legislative items to the Montgomery County Legislative Liaison Committee.

Please submit items to Michelle Newell via email at manewell@mcgtn.net or by mail to 1 Millennium Plaza, Clarksville, TN 37040, by Thursday, August 25. The Committee will review the suggested topics and formulate the agenda that will be presented to our local state delegation in October 2022.
