Civil Process and Warrants Division

The Process Division is responsible for carrying out the statutory duties of the Sheriff related to civil and criminal court processes. The Division is comprised of two primary sections: Civil Process and Criminal Warrants.


Civil Process Section

The Civil Process Section is responsible for the processing, execution, service, and return of all civil warrants, court orders, and related legal documents. In addition, deputies assigned to this section provide funeral procession escorts in support of local funeral homes and the community.

Attempts service on more than 15,000 civil documents annually, including:

Evictions

Escorted over 200 funeral processions in 2025

Criminal Warrants Section

The Criminal Warrants Section is staffed by a sergeant and deputy sheriffs who are responsible for receiving arrest warrants, reviewing them for legal sufficiency and completeness, and processing them for service.

Deputies assigned to this unit actively attempt to locate named defendants using all available information. They also assist the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force, as well as federal, state, and local agencies, with warrant service operations.

Once located, defendants are arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Jail for booking and intake.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office maintains an online warrant information database. Members of the public may search to determine whether an adult individual has an active criminal warrant issued by any Montgomery County court.
