The Archives is closed the second Monday of every month for staff development, as well as all other holidays observed by Montgomery County Government. You can find a list of those holidays here.

Although it is not required, we highly recommend that you make an appointment in advance so that we can better assist you upon your arrival. To make an appointment, click the link above to complete the Archives Request Form. Select the type of appointment you would like to schedule from the Request Type drop-down menu.

What to Expect:

  • First time visitors will need to complete the Researcher Registration Form upon arrival, and all visitors will be asked to sign in.
  • If you have made an appointment, please let a staff member know when you arrive.
  • All materials at the Archives are non-circulating and cannot be checked out.
  • Our staff will be available to provide information about our holdings, retrieve requested materials, and provide copies as needed.

We ask that you abide by the following guidelines:

  • Food, drinks, and chewing gum are not permitted at the Archives.
  • Pencils are the only writing utensils permitted in order to prevent damage to the materials.
  • Researchers are permitted to bring laptops and notebooks into the Reading Room, where archival materials can be accessed.
  • All other belongings, including coats and bags, must be placed in lockers provided in our lobby.
